Center Policies

Child Safety and Access Policy

At Tiny Treasures Childcare Center, we are committed to maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for all children. Our policies ensure the well-being of every child while maintaining compliance with state regulations.

Unrestricted Access to Children

Only authorized individuals have unrestricted access to children in our center, including:

  • Owners
  • Staff members (full-time, part-time, and substitutes)
  • Approved subcontracted staff
  • Volunteers with completed background checks
  • Parents, guardians, or legal custodians of enrolled children

Individuals with unrestricted access may have direct contact with children, care for them, and assume childcare responsibilities.

Restricted Access

Individuals without unrestricted access:

  • Must be under the direct supervision and constant monitoring of a paid staff member at all times.
  • Are not permitted to assume any childcare responsibilities.
  • Will not be counted toward the required staff-to-child ratio.

Supervision and Monitoring

  • The Lead Teacher is primarily responsible for supervising individuals with restricted access.
  • If a conflict of interest arises, the Full-Time Assistant Teacher may assume this responsibility.

Sex Offender Restrictions

To protect the safety of our children, convicted sex offenders against a minor (even if they are the child's parent/guardian) who are required to register with the Virginia Sex Offender Registry are strictly prohibited from:

  • Operating, managing, or being employed at the center.
  • Acting as a contractor, volunteer, or visitor without written permission from the Director.

Sex offenders may only be on center property with written permission from the Director, which is not guaranteed and is strictly limited to the time necessary for transporting their own child to and from the center.

Staff Notification & Security Measures

Staff members are required to:

  • Staff must notify the Director in advance if they expect a visitor.
  • Staff will approach any unfamiliar person on the property to verify their purpose.
  • Staff will follow the “Dangerous Adult” procedure if a situation appears potentially dangerous.
  • Non-center personnel (e.g., maintenance or repair workers) must be monitored by a staff member at all times and cannot interact with children.

Visitors and Guests

To maintain a secure environment, all visitors who are not parents, authorized pick-up persons, or staff members must:

  • Sign in and sign out via the Brightwheel app at the office upon arrival and before departure.
  • Wear a visitor badge while on center property.

Policy Enforcement

Our policies are strictly enforced to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in our care. Failure to comply with these policies may result in immediate removal from the premises and further action if necessary. If you have any questions about these policies, please contact us for clarification. Your child’s safety is our top priority!
